I feel extremely fortunate to have had some amazing teachers; I’ve even stayed in contact with my incredible 6th & 7th grade English teacher, Mrs. Trede. I’ve had teachers inspire me (Mrs. Fridley, Mr. Eby), stick up for me (Mr. Rotter, I’m forever indebted to you), and only one enrage me (Mr. Holtz). It seems because most everybody has gone to school, they believe they understand the job of a teacher. So not true! These women and men truly wear more hats in one day, than most people in a year.
So, here’s your opportunity to nominate your (or your child’s) favorite teacher. In 200 words or less, describe how this teacher made a difference in your (or child’s life). In order to win, though, the teacher must still be teaching. Keep in mind, I’m a sap for inspirational “after school special” stories. Since many classroom supplies are out of pocket expenses for teachers, the winner will recieve a class box set ($50 value) of eco-friendly school supplies sent to their favorite teacher.
Email your essay to firstname.lastname@example.org and write “Favorite Teacher contest” in the subject. Winner will be announced on Friday- July 22nd.
