Last week we looked at Yoreganics Soap Nuts as a safe alternative for chemical-laden detergents. But, what about stain removers? Are those just as loaded with toxic ingredients?
According to the Environmental Work Group…
- Shout Stain Removers all “earned” a D or F grade
- Goo Gone? F
- Zout Stain Removers? D-F
- Green Works “Naturally Derived” Stain Remover? D
What is the main culprit lurking in each of these? Artificial fragrance (sensing a pattern?). Also included: Boric Acid, Sodium Borate, Preservatives, Methylisolthiazolinone, and Acrylic Polymer.
With these toxic ingredients, maybe we’re better off with the stain.
Of course we don’t want you walking around with stained clothes, so we’ve found the BEST stain remover EVER! Yoreganics Stain Remover.
I wish I would have had the foresight to take pictures of all of the (what I thought were) hopeless stains: my son’s white baseball pants full of grass stains, or my son’s sweatshirt after a bottle of ketchup exploded- both came out CLEAN!
So, what ingredients are in this USDA Certified Organic bad boy? Saponified organic coconut, olive and jojoba oils, *organic aloe vera, *organic blend of essential oils and rosemary extract. It’s also non-toxic, biodegradable, gluten free, vegan, and cruelty free
Since Yoreganics is a small business, its information isn’t on EWG’s site yet. But, some of the ingredients are…
Saponified Coconut Oil? A
Olive Oil? A
It also works great on set-in and pet stains.
